Clean and Uninterrupted Water Supply Is Elitism, Say Concerned Citizens

CHENNAI тАФ The Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department recently released a roadmap for providing clean water supply to Chennai round the clock. The document outlines plans to achieve a task long overdue for the city's residents.

While the general consensus is that the plan is much needed, a section of internet citizens is not very happy.

"Dirty, yellow-coloured water is the lifeline of Chennai people. The government can never take it away from them," said an X user based in Amsterdam, expressing concern over the growing disconnect between the people and the government.

"Stinky, inedible water is not just water, it is the way of life," argues another X post with Karl Marx as their display picture, for some reason.

This joins a growing list of government initiatives facing fierce resistance from concerned citizens, including the "culture-destroying" footpath encroachment removal drive and the recent installation of streetlights along Marina Beach, which critics say unfairly disturbs homeless residents who had grown accustomed to the ambience of complete darkness. At this rate, the state government might as well give employment to the youth enslaving them to corporates and call it development, says concerned citizens in total seriousness.
